Experience The Great American Eclipse with Stable View
What is The Great American Eclipse?
The Great American Eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the earth and the sun, creating a shadow across the United States that will travel from Oregon to South Carolina. Cities inside the 40-mile-wide path of the solar eclipse will experience darkness in the middle of the day, the air will cool, and stars will be seen.
When is The Great American Eclipse in South Carolina?
The entire eclipse runs from about 1:00 to 4:00 PM with totality at Stable View around 2:42 PM on August 21st, 2017. Communities in the path of totality will see quite a show. Experts agree, the closer you are to the centerline, the longer the darkness will last. Stable View will experience roughly 45-55 seconds of darkness.
Where is The Great American Eclipse seen?
Totality (total darkness) happens in areas north of Aiken, including Orangeburg, Columbia, Sumter, Greenville, and Anderson. Areas in Georgia like Augusta, Athens, Atlanta, Macon, Beaufort, and Savannah are not in the path of totality and will not experience totality.
How should you view the solar eclipse?
Stable View will be providing a central area with complimentary viewing glasses, wine and cheese and a tour of the property departing after totality at about 3:00 pm. The guided tour traverses the rolling hills of the property and crosses the second cross-country course, as well as, the area where the Boyd Martin Eventing Academy is currently being constructed. This tour is available on a first come, first served basis.
How should you plan your stay during the solar eclipse?
If staying the weekend, contact us to make sure we have space available. It is estimated that several hundred thousand people will travel into South Carolina to experience this phenomenon. Stable View offers RV hook-ups, primitive camping, and has several lodging options available over the weekend extending into Monday when the eclipse and tour of the property occur. Guests are invited to the viewing party or can come early for the Clayton Frederiks eventing clinic.
